Software Development
& Product Management

Hello

Your products should be better. They should be better than even you imagine. I have spent my career finding ways to create applications and media that exceed the expectations. I believe in user-centered design and product strategy that challenges the obvious path. Of course, a personal belief written on a website only goes so far. Luckily, I actually have a track record for making successful and intuitive digital products.

My Experience

Director of Software Development, Coyote Logistics

2014 - Present

I am responsible for Coyote’s customer-facing application strategy and execution. I lead several Agile web and mobile development teams in the US and abroad, manage stakeholder relationships, and help drive innovation. I own the creation and delivery of these beautiful and intuitive products for shippers, drivers, and all the people in between who make sure the goods you need and love get to you. Occasionally I am caught with my hand in some code or an Illustrator file, but pretend you didn’t see that.

Software Development Manager, Coyote Logistics

2013 - 2014

As Software Development Manager, I was responsible for the design and development of our primary web application. It's a looker, and by far the easiest in the industry to use. I also began managing teams. It turns out they’re even more complex than code. If I’m proud of the applications we have designed and built, I am equally as proud of the development group I have been able to lead.

User Interface Designer/Front-end Developer, Coyote Logistics

2010 - 2013

In this role, I was challenged not only to re-imagine Coyote's customer-facing web application but also to help define the process and build the team to get the job done. We started from the ground up, and through stakeholder interviews, proofs-of-concept, and iterative development we built a new platform that continues to grow today, meeting our customers’ needs better than ever and continuously shifting to address the ever-changing needs of Coyote.

Web and Media Developer, Northwestern University

2001 - 2010

I had the pleasure of wearing about two-thousand hats in my time at Northwestern University. One of my highlights was designing and developing the Encyclopedia of Chicago. We hardly knew what the internet was then, and yet this site still gets several thousand visitors a week. I was also able to travel to the far Western reaches of China to photograph Buddhist cave art and to Ghana to film a traditional festival, a story best told over a beer. Through these and dozens of other projects, I learned how to be flexible and self-sufficient. Whatever it is, it can be done.
