Sylvia brings effeciency to the process of putting away the dishes.
This weekend we traveled to the Quad Cities (map) to attend the wedding of my college friend Stephanie Linde and Peter Beacom. The wedding was outside, and though it rained before the ceremony and after the ceremony, the skies cleared for the important part of the day. The sun even shone brightly for about 30 seconds after they said ‘I do’!
Sylvia attended both the ceremony and the reception and showed off a few dance moves.
We all had a great time. Congratulations to Stephanie and Peter, and thanks for getting all of the old Chapin gang back together again!
This is just one picture from Elaina and Sylvia’s many adventures together this weekend. Our adventures have included a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo, bike rides around Lake Michigan and to the playground, a picnic in the rose garden, and going to the Shedd Aquarium. Elaina loves to hold Sylvia’s hand. Sylvia consented in this photo. We’ll post more pictures of their trip soon.
We’re a few days late for which we have no excuse other than a two-year-old, but Happy Easter! We had a beautiful though slightly chilly Sunday. The day began with an Easter basket and Easter egg hunt. The lollipop was the highlight followed by various other types of candy. Then Sylvia got dressed in a pretty new dress from G, and we went of to church. Though not necessarily a typical Easter topic, Sylvia sat through the entire service in big girl underwear!
Here are some photos of the day:
We are now the proud owners of a Dutch cargo bike from De Fietsfabriek USA (http://www.defietsfabriek-usa.com/). More to come.
Sylvia may look like she’s in pain in this shot, but it’s really her ‘cheese’ smile. We have to work on that. Actually, she loves the bike. It’s difficult to get her out.
On Thursday Dede and Papa arrived in a Penske truck ready to set up their new Evanston condo. It took a good bit of work, but within about two-and-a-half days, the placed looked great. See for yourself:
They head back to Jackson tomorrow, and as is customary for one of their trips to Chicago, the visit ended in snow this evening.
